The Entrepreneurship Development Institute at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia started his activities in 1995. The Centre is the first of its kind in Bulgaria and one of the few in Eastern Europe. Three local centres at the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics in Svishtov, the St. St. Cyril and Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo and the Technical University in Plovdiv were established in 1996 as affiliated units to the Centre. With its accumulated expert experience and developed network for collaboration with similar organisations the Institute covers a complex of training, consulting, research and informational support in the fields of entrepreneurship and small business. MissionThe Entrepreneurship Development Institute at the University of National and World Economy is one of the first Bulgarian pioneers in education, consulting and research in the field of entrepreneurship. The Institute is focusing its work on supporting the entrepreneurship activity in all of its dimensions - from the idea to start a small business, the management and development of small and medium-sized enterprises, to establishing of corporate entrepreneurship in the large-scale, reviving organisations. The Entrepreneurship Development Institute is striving through its activities to develop as a leading training institution, contributing to the development of the entrepreneurial potential of Bulgaria and to the creation of a new entrepreneurial culture - the driving force in the transition to market economy.
